The programme of events at Immersive Dome will include a diverse mixture of cinema, AV installation, art and interactive content, fully utilising the unique audio-visual capabilities of the space. We aim to showcase the cutting-edge in multimedia art, computer graphics and surround audio to provide an immersive environment that can be a relaxing 'chill-out' space, or an engaging forum for the new and interesting.
The programmed content can be broadly summarised using the following categories:
Whilst retaining a technological theme throughout, Recursive-function are firmly committed to providing a space that is fun, engaging and most importantly; social. Well known technologies such as Google Earth or World Wind, adapted for control with a Nintendo Wiimote and played back on a huge scale on our screens offer a chance for people to get involved in the programme in a way that is playful, physical and interesting. Other games such as 2D physics sandbox; Phun encourage a spirit of experimentation, co-operation and gentle competition.
Our programme of content will adapt in nature according to the time of day and according to the perceived mood; providing at times an intimate space for people to explore and create with friends, and at others a dramatic stage for audio-visual performance. The Immersive dome will also fill the role of 'Shambala cinema' during the day, playing relevant films in it's tailor made cinema environment.
Whilst we aim to produce the majority of content in-house, the unique nature of our playback environment offers an exciting opportunity for audio-visual and digital artists. We also aim to commission installations from a collective of artists and producers in the coming months for performance at Shambala in August.
